On this edition of Employee Spotlight, we’re introducing a very special new member to the 321 Executive Team — our Director of Operations, Cathleen Ayala.
We sat down with Cathleen, our resident Lizzo stan, and asked her some key questions about her role and how she got to where she is today. Get to know Cathleen below!

  • So, tell us a little about your role:

CA:  As Director of Operations, I am responsible for process workflow and design and the optimization and implementation of those procedures when it comes to production planning and resource allocation for the agency. I influence the efficient and high-quality execution of work based on those processes and procedures and I partner with each department to grow the agency in ways that help promote operational efficiency. I am focused on ensuring clear direction, proper risk management, and delivering solutions in all situations.

  • How did you end up working in operations?

CA:  I have an extensive background in project/account management which relies heavily on organization, efficiency, productivity, process, throughput, and outcomes. Over time, those skills and experiences accumulated and started to lend themselves towards influencing and impacting the bigger picture when it comes to overall operations.

  • Awesome! Enough business though, let’s get to the fun stuff. Give us some fun facts about yourself.

CA: I was born and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands. I wanted to be a teacher, journalist, writer and producer when I grew up. I love reading, music (from country to jazz to trap music and everything else in between), dancing (to all the music), Marvel movies, wine, chocolate, action films and romance novels. I love being the mom of two boys and my husband’s special gal. In my mind, I think that I could be best friends with Gabrielle Union, Traci Ellis Ross and Ellen D. And I think that Mary J. Blige already wrote and sang the soundtrack to my life/movie. Oh, and I’m kind of a goofball.

  • Last question: what music do you listen to to get yourself pumped up for work?

CA: Really anything from any category depending on the mood I’m going for. But if I really want to come in and kill it… Lizzo, Mary J Blige, Beyonce, Drake, Janelle Monae, Bob Marley, Rihanna, and a whole lot of hip hop.

We’re looking forward to seeing all the great things Cathleen accomplishes at 321!
