How To Manage
Harsh truths, branded.
How to Manage a Small Law Firm came to 321 with real substance: a membership and education platform helping small firm owners stop drowning in their practice and start running an actual business. What it lacked was a brand voice loud enough, and an identity distinct enough, to cut through a legal-education space that mostly sounds like a CLE seminar.
Small firm owners don’t need another buttoned-up consultant reciting best practices. They need someone willing to tell them the truth: that busy isn’t the same as scalable, and that most of what’s holding them back is a story they’re telling themselves. The challenge was building a brand with enough edge to earn attention and enough credibility to keep it.
321 developed a brand built on tough love: direct, funny, occasionally profane, and always rooted in real expertise. Before any design work started, audience personas were mapped around the real psychological blockers small firm owners face, and the strategy rolled up into three pillars: practical tools that save time, expert guidance that leads to confident decisions, and a community of like-minded operators that offers real camaraderie.
The voice is blunt, funny, and allergic to corporate hedging, calibrated from a mantra that set the ceiling for how far the brand was willing to go. The visual identity holds the same energy: a compass-and-seal logomark ringed with Latin, a spray-paint drip treatment, a deep green and hard-to-ignore yellow palette, and a street-art collage world that fuses legal iconography with graffiti texture. Underground and expert at the same time.
321 led original photography rather than relying on stock, with a signature treatment that shifts real member portraits into the brand’s green-and-yellow world. Social and paid creative carry the same directness: confrontational copy hooks, bold collage graphics, and mobile-first ad units built for the thumb-scrolling environment they live in. The brand doesn’t explain its value slowly. It states it and moves on, all the way through to the click.
