321 Joins Atlanta’s A-Pledge for Agency Diversity
The A Pledge is a call to Atlanta advertising and marketing agencies to come together in a committed effort to create inclusive opportunities within our industry. Over the next decade, we will make the changes needed to ensure our teams reflect the diversity of our community. As we do, we will see systemic opportunity grow in our industry, our city, and our nation.
In a uniquely collaborative move, advertising agencies, marketing agencies and corporate marketing leaders from all avenues of the Atlanta area joined forces in 2020 to address what we in the agency world have known is true for decades: our industry lacks true diversity. The Mad Men-era influences that birthed the advertising world still, unfortunately, linger in modern times—including elements of systemic racism that hold our industry back.
Recognizing that change won’t come without committing to it, the members who commit to The A Pledge agree to take actionable steps in matching the diversity of Atlanta-area agencies to the demographics and diversity of the city by 2030.
At 321, we take our company diversity seriously. Our leaders strongly believe that our unique backgrounds and experiences elevate our work and make us a place where the best talent chooses to work. While diversity and inclusion is more than a set of numbers, we know that our commitment can be measured. We are proud to have a team in which 40% of the staff identifies as BIPOC, NHPI, or LatinX. Additionally, our current team is composed of a majority of teammates identifying as female, with that diversity extending to our leadership level. As coworkers and friends, we are proud supporters of those on our staff who have shared their status in the LGBTQ+ community and we support our gender identities up front by placing our personal pronouns in our business email signatures. It is our goal to be a leader in diversity as a Top Orlando HQ Agency that inspires our clients and fellow agencies.
Like The A Pledge initiative states, “Advertising and marketing is a creative industry, and research shows that diverse teams produce more creative results. The industry is also a high-wage industry. That means that diversity gaps lead to economic opportunity gaps. Our industry and our city will be better if our workforce reflects our shared community.”
As we continue to expand our footprint in the Atlanta area, 321 looks forward to being an active contributor to this important city initiative, while also taking the same approach in our Orlando based HQ.
